Our Story
Established in the 1980s, Hideaway Lodge has been a cherished fixture in Central Newfoundland for over 35 years. Founded by Rob Folkes, our Newfoundland hunting lodge quickly gained recognition for its exceptional guided moose hunts in Canada, warm hospitality, and breathtaking wilderness setting.

For decades, Rob Folkes guided and fulfilled the hunting dreams of hundreds of adventurers from around the world. His dedication to providing world-class hunts, delicious homecooked meals, cozy accommodations, and authentic Newfoundland charm made Hideaway Lodge a sought-after destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

In 2022, a new chapter began as Jason, Rob's successor, took over as the sole proprietor of Hideaway Lodge. With over 28 years of guiding experience within the family business, Jason is committed to preserving the legacy and traditions of Hideaway Lodge while ushering in new opportunities for growth and expansion.

Under Jason's leadership, Hideaway Lodge has embarked on an exciting journey of innovation and diversification. In addition to its seasonal affordable moose hunts, the lodge now offers thrilling black bear hunts in the spring and fall. Furthermore, Hideaway Lodge has opened its doors during the winter months, welcoming snowmobilers and ATV groups to explore the pristine wilderness of Central Newfoundland.

Hideaway Lodge is proud to be a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Outfitters Association (NLOA) and actively participates in the NLOA Preservation Fund.
